1.) Organically Grown
Choosing organic foods and desserts is the best way to not only go green with your event meals, but also have you and guests enjoy the freshest foods. Choosing local and organic foods not only lowers carbon emissions but also allows you to choose foods that are guaranteed to be tasty and not loaded with preservatives. Finding a cater can be difficult, but the outcomes are well worth it! Tip: When cutting costs, choose local rather than organic. Both options offer amazing benefits!
2.) Smell the Benefits Organic flowers are not only healthy for the environment, but are beautiful as well. These flowers are grown without pesticides or insecticides and retain their natural scent better than bred flowers. (Did you know that bred flowers can lose scent so quickly that florists may often times spray flowers to create a scent.) Organic flowers are also edible and can be safely topped on cakes and desserts alike without harming guests!
3.) Your Invited…
Using paper alternatives for you invitations and place cards is another great way to go green at your next event! Choose paper made of hemp or bamboo, or get 100% recycled paper. Soy bean based ink is another way to make your invitations environmentally friendly and show your guests that you care!
4.) Recycling is Key
Ask your caterer in advance to be sure that their staff recycles all glass and aluminum cans that will be used at the event. Also insists that no styrofoam or unrecyclable plastic be used.
5.) Invest in Your GownInvesting in a beautiful wedding gown is the best way to go green for your wedding! Having a classic gown that can be used for future generations is a great way to go green without feeling deprived. A gown that can be passed down encourages less future spending and is also friendly for the environment.
6.) Here Comes the Sun
Nothing beats sunshine! Having an outdoor event or wedding offers fantastic lighting alternatives and reduces your carbon footprint while also saving money on your event. Outdoor events use natural lighting and no electricity. When the sun goes down, opt for more candles than lights creating a beautiful ambiance at your event.
